The crash took place in Stratford around 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18 in the area of South Ave and Spada Boulevard.
Upon arrival by police, an investigation determined that a Honda driven by Jamar Blackburn, age 38, of Bridgeport, exited I-95 south and crashed into a Ford driven by Jason Fonseca-Kennedy, age 26, of Waterbury in New Haven County, said Capt. Frank Eannotti of the Stratford Police.
The Ford pickup driven by Kennedy rolled over and the Honda driven by Blackburn came to rest a distance away on Spada Boulevard, Eannotti said.
As a result of the crash, the roadways and associated exit ramp were closed for several hours while investigators managed the scene, he added.
On Monday, Aug. 22, Fonseca-Kennedy died from injuries sustained in the crash, Eannotti said.
Blackburn was treated for injuries he sustained in the crash, he said.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and charges are expected.
